Fuck, I am who I am / Ed Hall

Edmund Hall, aged 39.

Ed is a 30-something graphic designer and artist who lives in Philadelphia, PA. Apart from graphic design, he is also an illustrator, photographer and budding musician. He has a passion for the arts, bad movies and obscure references to pop culture.

What makes you laugh?

I have a pretty dark sense of humour, but I also just love randomness and anything the makes astute reference to pop-culture especially if it's obscure, the more clever it is the more likely it'll make me laugh.

When did you last cry?

From laughing probably a few days ago, but from overwhelming emotion maybe a year ago. I'm not a big crier to be honest.

What’s your earliest memory?

For some reason, I can remember my 4th birthday party and

the cake. There wasn't anything special about the cake but it was my cake so it stuck with me.

Describe what ‘love’ means to you.

Love is unconditional, it's forgiving, compassionate. It's uncontrollable yet refined in a sense. There's no force stronger, yet it feels so hard to come by. Love is what makes us human, I think we forget about that at times.

What makes you unique to everyone else on this planet?

I dunno, I guess that there's only one of me, I think everyone is unique in their own way.

Name 3 people (living or dead) you’d invite to your virtual quarantine dinner party.

Bill Waterson, Mr. Rogers and Julia Childs.

Describe yourself in 5 words (this can be a sentence or 5 separate words).

Creative, Unique, Odd, ‘Comme ci, Comme ça’, Compassionate.

Who or what has made the greatest impact on your life?

That's really hard to say at any given time in my life someone has made a great impact. From my mother, my father, my neighbour, various best friends throughout my life. But if I really thought about it, I have to say my art teacher in high school. She's the one who first saw that spark in me and helped me cultivate it throughout my high school career. She often would show me art things and pushed me to be a better artist.

Any regrets?

Yeah, I really wish I never ate that spaghetti from the buffet bar at the dining hall in college.

Tell us something no one knows about you (and I mean no-one)? Until now.

I can play 7 different instruments to differing degrees and I'm classically trained in the double bass.
